HOUSING PROVISION FOR THE POPULATION IN THE SOUTHERN REGIONS: CHANGES AND PROBLEMS (based on the examples of Surkhondaryo and Qashqadaryo regions, 1991–2023)

This article analyzes the changes and problems in housing provision for the population in the southern regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan – Surkhondaryo and Qashqadaryo – during the period from 1991 to 2023. The article reviews housing construction reforms implemented during the years of independence, urbanization processes, economic and social factors, as well as the problems that have arisen in this field and ways to address them. Demographic changes, innovations in the construction sector, and infrastructure development in Surkhondaryo and Qashqadaryo regions are given special attention, and their impact on the housing needs of the population is analyzed.
