The article is devoted to
analyzing the quality of etymological
interpretations of Russian writers’ surnames
generated by artificial intelligence. Accurate and
erroneous responses are identified, and typical
deviations are systematized. A tendency toward
simplification and pseudo-etymology is noted. The
study emphasizes the necessity of critically
evaluating AI-generated results in the context of
humanities research.
