This article provides an in–depth analysis of the role of extracurricular education in the formation of cognitive activity and creative thinking in students. The article provides a detailed description of pedagogical mechanisms that serve to stimulate creative thinking in this activity – methods such as emotional stimulation, the possibility of choice, thinking partnership, a positive attitude to mistakes and social recognition. It is also emphasized that, from the point of view of cognitive theory, extracurricular education creates sufficient conditions for the formation of creative research, interdisciplinary views and personal conclusions in students.
