This article discusses the obligations for the provision of tourist services for a fee, their contractual and legal nature, the peculiarities of the legal status of tourist organizations, legal entities of tour operators and travel agents, their similarities and differences. The normative legal documents regulating the obligations of travel companies to each other and to tourists, as well as the experience of foreign countries in this regard, are analyzed.
