Ushbu maqola O. Henri hikoyalarida kogerensiya va kogeziya funksiyalariga kognitiv nuqtayi nazardan yondashadi hamda yozuvchining narrativ strategiyalari o‘quvchining kognitiv jarayonlariga qanday ta’sir qilishini tahlil qiladi. O. Henri o‘zining kutilmagan syujet burilishlari, murakkab xarakter yaratish uslubi va kinoyaviy yakunlari bilan mashhur bo‘lib, ularning barchasi asarlarida yaxlitlik va tuzilma hissini shakllantiradi. Kognitiv nuqtayi nazardan qaralganda, maqola uning hikoyalari qanday qilib mental sxemalar, muammoni hal qilish modellari va o‘quvchi kutishlari orqali izchillikni saqlab qolishini o‘rganadi.
